Build on your sailing skills and gain your certificate of competency so that you can enjoy cruising with others, or work towards sailing your own boat.

Our Introduction to Sail certificate is highly recommended as a pre-cursor course, but not compulsory for those with previous sailing experience. This competent crew sailing course is a challenging program full of vital information for working as an integral part of a team onboard any yacht.

The course covers:

  • Knowledge of sea terms and elements of a yacht
  • Rope work
  • Man overboard recovery
  • Manners and customs
  • Meteorology
  • Basic engine checks Sail handling and adjustment
  • Personal safety, fire prevention and fire fighting
  • Distress signals
  • Rules of the ‘road’
  • Steering a compass course under sail and power
  • Anchoring

Courses are usually run over 2 weekends but are also available as 3 consecutive days. Our students board our yacht (pick up location agreed at time of booking) at 9.30 am, returning at 3.30pm, for 2 of the 3 days. Then on the third session, students have an opportunity to experience 3 hours of night sailing.

Commencing and finishing times are subject to minor change depending on wind forecast. Courses are run for a minimum 2 students, and maximum of 4 students making for an intimate, hands on learning environment with our fully qualified instructors.

Students bring their own lunch, sunscreen and a hat is recommended. We will provide wet weather jackets if required.

On completion you will receive a course completion certificate. Cost is $670 per person.
